What are All-on-Four Implants?

f you are missing most or all of your teeth, or living with dentures that slip and limit what you can eat, All-on-4 dental implants offer a permanent solution. This technique uses four to six strategically placed dental implants per arch to support a complete set of fixed teeth. Unlike removable dentures, All-on-4 implants are anchored into the jawbone. They do not shift, do not require adhesive, and restore the ability to eat, speak, and smile without restriction.

At Henderson Oral Surgery, Dr. Steve Huang plans every All-on-4 case using CBCT 3D imaging for precise implant positioning and predictable results.

How All-on-4 Works

The process begins with a 3D scan of your jaw to evaluate bone density and anatomy. Dr. Huang creates a digital surgical plan mapping the exact position of each implant. On the day of surgery, any remaining failing teeth are extracted, the implants are placed, and a temporary set of teeth is attached. You leave the office the same day with a full set of functional teeth.

Over three to six months, the implants integrate with the jawbone. Once healed, your final permanent prosthesis is fabricated and placed. The entire procedure is performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia for your comfort.

Who Qualifies for All-on-4?

Candidates include patients who are missing all or most teeth in an arch, have teeth failing beyond repair, wear removable dentures and want a fixed alternative, or have moderate bone loss that makes individual implant placement difficult. The angled placement of the posterior implants often eliminates the need for separate bone grafting.

All-on-4 vs. Dentures

Traditional dentures rest on the gums with adhesive. They slip during eating and speaking, require nightly removal, and do not prevent jawbone loss. Over time, bone shrinkage causes them to fit poorly, requiring relining every few years. All-on-4 implants are fixed to the jaw, preserve bone health, function like natural teeth, and are maintained with regular brushing and professional cleanings. The long-term value significantly exceeds the upfront cost difference.

All-on-4 vs. Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures use two to four implants to stabilize a removable denture. They are less expensive than All-on-4 but still removable. For patients who want a non-removable, fixed solution, All-on-4 is the better option.

Recovery

Most patients experience mild swelling for 2 to 3 days. A soft food diet is recommended for the initial weeks. Most patients return to work within 5 to 7 days. The temporary prosthesis is fully functional during the healing period.

Full Arch Options

We also offer full arch restoration for patients who need a comprehensive approach. Dr. Huang evaluates each case individually and recommends the approach that delivers the best long-term result.
